Customized Volkswagens on Display this Weekend

For the fifth year in a row, owners of customized Volkswagens from different States in the Republic will congregate for the Pacific Fest 2015 on May 2 and 3 at the Convention Center.

President of Club Vlks Mzt, Carlos Lizárraga, said he met with Mayor Carlos Felton to request the help of municipal security personnel and to invite him to inaugurate the festivities and take part in the parade.

The parade of the customized Volks will take place on Saturday, May 2 beginning at 5pm at Kilómetre Cero and travelling past the aquarium to along the Malecón, ending at the Convention Center for the official inauguration.

On Sunday, May 3, customized and personalized Volkswagens will be on public display, culminating in the presentation of prizes for the “Top 50 Volks.”

Contrary to Rumours, Convention Center is Profitable

Mazatlán’s convention center, Mazatlán International Center (MIC), is stable and growing contrary to rumours it is operating in the red, said Director Raúl Llera Martínez.
Large projects such as the convention center require a period to recover the investment, he said, adding that while initially it was expected to take six to eight years it will now take five.
As proof, the director pointed out by the end of this year there will have been 360 events at the MIC, representing a 17 percent increase over last year.

American Classic Car Festival this Weekend

Aficionados of classic American cars are in for a treat this weekend when Mazatlán hosts the second annual American Classic Car festival January 31 through February 2 at the Convention Center.

The organizers also announced that a parade of over 200 cars (manufactured before 1973 and trucks before 1979) will take place on Saturday beginning at 10am. The parade will leave Av. Miguel Alemán in El Centro, continue along Olas Altas and the Malecón to end in the Zona Dorada.

The public is invited to a free viewing of the cars at the esplanade of the Convention Center where they can vote for the best restoration, the most original, the best modification and the most popular car of the classics on display.

National Nikkei Convention to be held in Mazatlán

Celebrating 400 years since the first Japanese diplomatic and commercial mission arrived in Mexico, the National Nikkei Convention will be held in Mazatlán May 1-4. The convention is held in Mexico every second year.

President of the Mexico-Japan association in Mazatlán, Esperanza Kazuga, said 800 nationalized Japanese and families are expected to attend.

At the event this year will be demonstrations of martial arts originating from Japan, including Karate, Judo and Aikido.

Bright future for Mazatlán’s Convention Center

José Alberto Ureña Trujillo, Director General of Mazatlán International Convention (Mazatlán Convention Center), said that the city’s convention center should finish this year with around 400 events, including training sessions and conferences.

For 2014 the Director General is expecting a 25% to 30% increase in events, putting the number of events over 500. A few international events are anticipated he said.

Although January and February can still handle additional events, all available dates for April and May have already been sold.

Ureña Trujillo noted that in April the Convention Center will host the National Confederation of Pediatrics of México with an expected attendance of over 7,000.

Mexican President to Visit Mazatlan for Third Time

For the third time since his inauguration as President of Mexico, Enrique Pena Nieto will arrive in Mazatlan to address the national conference of attorneys being held at the Convention Center November 28 and 29.

According to an official communiqué, attendees at the conference will analyze the outcome of four regional conferences held previously to form an agreement as to what needs to be done for the creation and administration of justice in the country.

MAZATLÁN._Con la presencia del diputado Alfonso Inzunza, presidente de la Comisión de Pesca de la Cámara de Diputados; y el secretario de Agricultura y Pesca de Sinaloa, se inauguraron los trabajos de la Expo Aquamar Internacional "Nuestro punto de encuentro", en la que confluyen funcionarios, investigadores, productores y proveedores de la actividad acuícola y pesquera.



En su mensaje de bienvenida, Germán López Fernández-Guerra, director de Aquamar internacional, se refirió a la contingencia sanitaria que sufrió la acuacultura del noroeste del país.

" Es momento de ordenar la casa, de tener buenas prácticas de manejo y sanitarias", declaró.

El programa continúa hasta mañana con páneles y conferencias, a las que han asistido mas de 500 personas.

MAZATLÁN.- A partir de 2014, la Cámara Nacional de la Vivienda contará con un registro de los profesionales inmobiliarios con el fin de contribuir a un desarrollo urbano, anunció el titular de la Secretaría de Desarrollo Agrario, Territorial y Urbano, Jorge Carlos Ramírez Marín.

Esto, durante la inauguración del Congreso Nacional Inmobiliario AMPI 2013, que tiene lugar estos momentos en el Centro de Convenciones, con la asistencia del gobernador Mario López Valdez; el presidente nacional de AMPI, Guillermo Salgado, además de empresarios y funcionarios públicos.

El evento continúa con el panel "Corredor Económico del Norte" y con una conferencia impartida por el ex Jefe de Gobierno del Distrito Federal, Marcelo Ebrard.

National Realtor’s Conference to be Held in Mazatlán

Mazatlán will host the 42nd National AMPI Congress from October 28 through November 2, announced the President of the local AMPI association (Asociación Mexicana de Profesionales Inmobiliarios), Flavio Isaac Michel Sánchez.

At a press conference held yesterday, he advised they expect approximately 1,000 delegates to attend from Mexico, the United States, Canada, South America and Central America.

A featured speaker will be Chris Gardner, whose life story inspired the movie “The Pursuit of Happyness.”

Comics Expo Comes to Mazatlán

Expo Comics Mazatlán will open at the Convention Center on September 14th for two days packed with appearances and autograph sessions of animation voice-over stars, sci-fi conferences, videogame tournaments, videogame strategies, dance and drawing competitions.

Doors open on Saturday, September 14th and Sunday, September 15th at 11am, closing at 9pm.
