Panamá Restaurants to Expand

Grupo Panamá, famous for its pastries and restaurants in Mazatlán, is expanding.

The Director General of the company told a press conference yesterday they are about to begin remodeling of the Zona Dorada Panamá restaurant on Av. Camarón Sábalo to expand seating by 100 to bring it up to 800, making it one of the largest in the country.

As well, he said, they plan to open a smaller restaurant in Plaza Ley del Mar with a lighter menu, fast food service and lower prices.

Food Fair to Pay Homage to Panamá Restaurant Group

The third edition of the Festival Como Local food fair will take place this Sunday, March 30, at the Glorieta Sánchez Taboada, also known as the Cliff Divers Square, beginning at 11am and ending at 8pm.

Fifteen local restaurants will take part selling their dishes at economic prices. Workshops, classes and family activities are also planned for the day.

At 2pm, the Festival will honour Grupo Panamá for its four decades in business in Mazatlán. Grupo Panamá owns and operates 41 pastry shops, nine Panamá restaurants, one Cayenna restaurant, two factories, an education center and events salon, employing approximately 2,000 people.

Fair organizers Enrique Peraza Chavarín and Munir Aún said they expect 5,000 people to attend the event. (from Noroeste)

Panama Restaurant Clients Give Fire Department a Boost

Thanks to customers of Panama restaurants in Mazatlán who supported the fire department’s “Los bomberos tienen sed…de ayuda” campaign (firefighters are thirsty…for help) by donating their change, the volunteer fire department was presented with a cheque for 115,740 pesos yesterday.

A representative of the firemen said 70,000 pesos would be used to purchase a modern compressor to fill respiration tanks as well as other necessary equipment. He told media how important the new equipment will be. The old compressor, he said, is at the end of its useful life.
