WBC light flyweight Champion Pedro Guevara (24-1-1, 16KOs) is ready
to defend his title in Mazatlan, Sinaloa, for the first time, in March
or April. Pedro is still awaiting word of an opponent from his
promoter, Promociones del Pueblo. He says there is a tentative date of
March 21st, but he's yet to be informed if the date is finalized.
"We
are about to go to the Otomi Ceremony Center to train. We are just
waiting for the date. I still don’t have an opponent, but I know that
the bout will be in Mazatlan, and that motivates me a lot. It's a dream
for me to defend my title for the first time at home."
"Pedrinho" is running on Mazatlan Pier before dawn and in afternoon he trains at a local gym. And next it's destination Otomi.
Blessed with brains to match his brawn, Pedro will soon graduate as a lawyer from the UAS in Mazatlan.
Guevara
nipped into his University to address some graduation matters. He also
took the opportunity to offer a motivational speech in the classroom
where he once pored over books.
