Francisco Manuel Córdova Celaya, the Secretary of Tourism for the State of
Sinaloa, said that 3.5 million pesos ($273,000) has been approved for the
development of a master plan for the Francisco Pino Suárez Municipal Market.
Surrounded by federal Deputy Martin Heredia, city officials, business owners, and tenants of the market, he said the purpose of the project is to turn the popular market into one of the largest tourist attractions in the city. The master plan for the market will take into consideration the original design, the history, and culture of the 114 year old structure.
Córdova Celaya said that the master plan should be completed within the next few months. As soon as it is completed and agreed to by the Pino Suárez Market tenants, negotiations
will begin with the federal government, the Ministry of Finance, and the Federal
