For the fifth consecutive year, North American meetings professionals headed to Mexico for PCMA North American Advisory Summit, a networking and educational event drawing Mexico meetings professionals and their counterparts from the U.S. and Canada. This year’s event was held in Mazatlan, a beach destination on Mexico’s Pacific Coast with a long history of attracting international visitors.
Sessions were held at Mazatlan International Center. Many attendees stayed at El Cid Marina Beach, a location owned and operated by Mazatlan’s El Cid Group, which also has hotels in the Riviera Maya. PCMA Advisors were lodged at Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay.
The yearly event, sponsored by the Mexico Tourism Board, attracted representatives from the country’s major destinations, including Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Puerto Vallarta,Los Cabos, Cancun and Leon. Mazatlan is located in the state of Sinaloa, and Sinaloa Secretary of Tourism Oralia Rice was both the consummate host, and an active participant in sessions and roundtables.
As in other regions of Mexico, Sinaloa tantalizes with a diverse, rich cuisine. Meals at the summit showcased the state’s culinary bounty to great effect. However, it’s probably the pre- and post-visits to El Cuchupetas - a hole-in-the-wall seafood restaurant on the way to the Mazatlan Airport (MZT)—that had foodies already looking into return flights.
