Mazatlán’s Director of Economic Development, Raúl Valdez Hernández, said
yesterday that over 100 hectares of land were sold in the last few days in the
Marina and around the Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay hotel/timeshare complex in Nuevo
Mazatlán.
Buyers of the land originate from Durango, Coahuila, Nuevo León, the State of
Veracruz and Texas, he said.
While he would not reveal the names of the companies nor the amount of
investment, Valdez said the purchasers were in the process of obtaining permits
and complying with legal requirements. He attributed the interest in land
purchase to the imminent completion of the Mazatlán-Durango highway, the
proposed gas pipeline to Mazatlán, modernization of the port and the federal
Playa Espíritu tourist resort in Teacapán. (from Noroeste)
