Mazatlán’s only organic market which takes place every Saturday morning at Zaragoza Park in El Centro is expanding.

A second market is now available to residents of the Golden Zone north to Cerritos on Wednesdays at the park in Sabalo Country from 3pm to 6pm.

Janet Blaser, market spokesperson, said the high demand for organic products indicated a need to open another location. They decided on Sabalo Country as most of the market´s customers are foreigners and the location would be convenient for them.

Organic Markets Reopens

Mazatlán’s popular organic market opens this coming Saturday at Plazuela Zaragoza. Veronica Rico Gonzalez, co-manager of the Organic Market in Mazatlán, said 17 vendors would be present with a myriad of organic products. The market opens at 8:00 am and remains open and active until noon.
Veronica Rico Gonzalez noted that a couple of local restaurants would be preparing breakfast items for sale to the attendees.
Jorge Luis Sánchez Sánchez, professor of Organic UAS, stressed that organic is not a passing fad and visitors to the organic market will find food produced without fertilizers, pesticides, or other chemicals that can be harmful to a consumer.
This is the fourth consecutive season for the organic market and it will be opened each Saturday until April, 2015.
