The Secretaría de la Defensa Nacional (Sedena) has taken over the uncompleted hospital in Fraccionamiento Rincón de Urías and military personnel have begun cleaning the building which will soon become a specialized military hospital for northwestern Mexico.

On Wednesday, the head of Sedena, General Salvador Cienfuegos Zepeda and Sinaloa Governor Mario López Valdez walked through the building to confirm its condition.

Since yesterday the changes have been evident. Vegetation and garbage have been removed from Security huts and security gates are now in operation.

Construction of the General Hospital was begun in 2005 but in 2011 it was abandoned after an investment of 400 million pesos.

From afar the building appears old and gray, but inside it becomes obvious the only thing missing is wall plaster and elevator installations.

Rooms have already been divided, connections are ready, the walls are strong and solid, and the entire electrical system is in place, including that for air conditioners.

The new military hospital will serve military personnel and their families from Baja California, Baja California Sur, Sonora, north to Nayarit and part of Durango, stated the General.

And although he said there has been no agreement as to when Sedena will move into the structure, they have already begun to take it over.
