A high-end American restaurant chain is bringing its custom gourmet hamburgers to Mexico.
The Counter will open 18 outlets beginning in the second half of this year; the first will be in Mexico City.
Described as a pioneer of the build-your-own-burger concept, the restaurant chain says its menu offers more than 1 million different burger combinations.
A group of Mexican investors operating as Restaurantes de Marcas Gastronómicas is opening the franchises.
GQ Magazine food writer Alan Richman included the Counter burger on his list of 20 hamburgers “you must eat before you die.”
The chain was founded in California in 2003 and now has franchises in Ireland, Saudia Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in addition to its U.S. outlets.

We had an event here and couldn’t have asked for anything more than what we got with the chef and staff. The corporate event planning guys did a wonderful job. Every little detail they took care of.
