The Mexican Automotive Industry Association (AMIA) reported that in the eleven months of this year the export of vehicles showed a growth of 8.2% over the previous year. Exports for the month of November totalled 237,923 vehicles; a 5.8 percent increase over November, 2013 and a new high for the month of November.
Eduardo Solís, president of the AMIA, pointed that exports to the United States, the largest importer of Mexican produced vehicles, grew at a rate of only 0.04 percent in November, while exports to the Eastern Market rose 109.9 percent and 65.6 percent to Canada.
The export data by regions revealed by AMIA puts the highest growth in Asia and Canada with 41.7 and 40.9 percent, respectively, over the January to November 2013. Exports to the United States increased 13.3 percent in absolute percentage and represents just over 200,000 additional vehicles.
Although the growth in exports to the United States is growing at a slower rate, the United States accounted for 70.9 percent of total exports during the first 11 months of the year, with Canada in second place with 10.2 percent of the total exports.
