President Enrique Peña Nieto and U.S. President Barack Obama held a
telephone conversation on Monday where they agreed to maintain constant
and fluid communication with periodic exchanges on bilateral,
multilateral and global issues, according to the Foreign Relations
Secretariat (SRE).
A Monday SRE press release said that both presidents affirmed their
relationship, which they described as strong and based on shared
responsibility, trust and mutual respect, and that they reaffirmed their
commitment to maintain close cooperation between their countries at all
levels.
The press release said that they also touched on many of the issues
that were previously discussed during Obama’s May 2013 visit to Mexico,
including the strengthening of economic dialogue with a strategic focus
and the adoption of a common vision on issues of education and
technological innovation.
They also agreed that the North American Leaders’ Summit plays an
important role in promoting the region as the most competitive and
dynamic in the world.
