Retail Investment Continues to Expand

Mazatlan Mayor Alejandro Higuera laid the first stone yesterday for another new shopping center of 40 stores and service outlets to be called Plaza Andanza.

The shopping center, costing 90 million pesos and covering seven thousand square meters, is located on Ave. Ejercito Mexicano. Construction is expected to take 11 months to complete.

Last night Marcos Eduardo, CEO of Cimaco, Mayor Alejandro Higuera, Mayor-elect Carlos Felton, and Roberto Cruz Castro, Ministry of Economic Development for the state of Sinaloa, celebrated the opening of the new department store, Cimaco.

For the past six months visitors to the Gran Plaza shopping mall have watched as the department store chain Cimaco totally remodeled the space previously occupied by Fábricas de Francia at a cost of 150 million pesos ($11.5 million).

The opening of the Gran Plaza store brings the number of stores operated by Cimaco Group, operating in Torreon, Saltillo, and Ciudad Juárez, to five.

The Gran Plaza store is comprised of 60 different departments with 230 employees. During the first quarter of next year the store will add a gourmet restaurant and bakery.
