Five-star hotels on hold waiting beach access

Francisco Cordova Celaya, Secretary of Tourism for the state of Sinaloa, said that plans for hotels north of Cerritos are on hold, as they need to gain beach access.

The Secretary of Tourism said the location of the planned five-star hotels needs to gain access to 20 hectares of beach front land in order to proceed with the project. Celaya said they are in talks with the railway company to gain the needed access and if those talks fail, access to the beach will be re-routed and 300 meters of needed land will be purchased. As soon as the beach access can be obtained, work will begin immediately he said.

The road that heads north from Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay will be extended 7 kilometers to provide the access to the hotel complex.

Although he did not give names, Cordova Celaya said the first hotel could be a Hilton or Hyatt, only saying that it would be a five-star international hotel chain. He added that the land for the project is large enough to support four or five five-star hotels.
