Mazatlan Very Positive in the "Tianguis" Tourist Fare

Sinaloa at Puebla  "Tianguis" Tourism Fair

Within a few hours of its inception, the event has exceeded all expectations of attendance, business, and economic spending; The activities of this international event open with a breakfast, "Friends of Mazatlan".
Surpassing all expectations in attendance, hotel occupancy and income, the Tourism Expo 2013 started this morning in Puebla, involving more 500 exhibitors and 600 buyers from 42 different countries.

Offering the preliminary figures of the tourism fair, Claudia Ruiz Massieu, Federal Secretary of Tourism, reported that this year, in which a delegation from Sinaloa participated, 3,200 rooms have been occupied and the city of Puebla's charter flights are reported to be full, as well as special routes who report thay are also full.STAND_DE_SINALOA_2


On the first day of activities, the delegation of Sinaloa, formed by Tourism Minister, Francisco Manuel Córdova Celaya; Hotel entrepreneurs, mayors, aldermen and State officials, have organized the traditional breakfast, which the head of the Federal Sectur and the Governor of Puebla, Rafael Moreno Valle, dozens of tour operators and about 200 national and international means of communication are expected to attend.

Francisco Manuel Córdova Celaya, explained that the main objective for this Expo is to promote Mazatlan Sinaloa more, attract investment, strengthen connectivity and position to the destination as a safe harbor.

STAND_DE_SINALOA2TOURISM ENCOURAGES CHANGE OF PERCEPTION TOWARDS MAZATLAN

The Secretary of Tourism of Sinaloa announced an intense and aggressive tourism promotion campaign to reverse the perception towards Mazatlan. Further, to keep Americans and Canadians on par with the palpable change in perception towards the destination, cruise ships have returned and the airlines have already expressed their decision to increase the number of its flights to the port.

Carlos Berdegué Sacristán, El Cid hotel entrepreneur, mentioned that the perception towards Mazatlan has already changed, particularly since the airlines expressed its decision to continue the connectivity at the same level until may 2013, in June, they will adjust their frequencies and in the summer the airplane seats will be doubled,, in addition to evaluating the feasibility of opening new destinations to 3 new cities.

Berdegue said that by the end of this year, there will at least be 35% more airplane seats.

"Yesterday they negotiated 3 conventions of 8 thousand people;" We have 48 thousand conventioneers confirmed for this year, 23% higher compared to last year", he said.
