El Recreo; A New Gathering Place For Mazatlan

EL RECREO

A New Cultural Gathering Place for Mazatlán

OPEN HOUSE
MARCH 23, 2012
3:00 – 8:00 PM
Calle Constitución #209 between Venus and Niños Heroes

Would you like an inviting place to host your next meeting, mount an art exhibit, see a film, listen to music or watch a play? Or, maybe you'd like to meet friends, sip a latte and while away your time with a book or laptop, buy a book in Spanish or English or attend a lecture?

The recent closure of Recrea, a gallery and art workshop space in the heart of the Centro Historico, has given us an unexpected opportunity to create a new multicultural community-based center dedicated to the appreciation of the arts, hosting activities in both English and Spanish and welcoming to all residents and visitors.

Mazatlán Film and Theater is proud to announce that we will be participating with Hector Peniche of Molika Bakery and Laura Medina of La Casa del Caracol bookstore to create a community-based center for a wide range of cultural activities. Mazatlán Film and Theater will continue to be a non-commercial community group dedicated to showing quality films and hosting theater presentations.
El Recreo will feature a theater/cinema, spaces for meetings, workshops, concerts and classes, a café and a bookstore. The range of activities will be determined by the imagination and involvement of the community.
Curious? Join us at our Open House during the special Art Walk on Friday, March 23 between 3 and 8 p.m. Come sip some wine, see some art, and get a guided tour of the space. Hear about the plans and tell us your ideas.

Can't make it that day? Contact us atmazact1@gmail.com for more information and a detailed outline of our plans. Or visit the Mazatlán Film and Theater website at www.mazact.com  for more details.
We look forward to seeing you!
Mazatlán Film and Theater Steering Committee
