Economic Growth in Mexico Attracts Japanese Investment
Mexico strives to be a hospitable place for foreign investment. Which is why it is encouraging that Japanese investors are looking at the Mexican peso for new financial opportunities. According to financial… analysts quoted in the Wall Street Journal, the solid economic growth in Mexico, stemming from its close economic ties with the U.S., and its stable policy stance offer an appealing alternative to other economies in Latin America. The growing value of the Mexican peso also makes the country an attractive prospective for foreign investors.
Tony Volpon, head of emerging-market research Americas at Nomura Securities, is encouraging clients to take a fresh look at Mexican markets. "We are...talking to our investors in Japan--we keep telling them to look at Mexico as an investment source," Volpon said. "We are seeing a rising flow into Mexico; it's still very small, but it's one of the things that is growing very rapidly.”
Japanese institutional investors may also be eyeing the nation due to the economic growth in Mexico. With the higher value of the Mexican peso yielding against the dollar and its potential to appreciate further, Japanese institutional investors view Mexico an emerging opportunity.
