A $10,500,000 public-private investment with the federal government will extend Mexico’s natural pipeline system by forty percent. By adding 4,500 kilometers of pipeline to its infrastructure, upon completion four states will be added to those that have this source of fuel.
Sinaloa, along with Zacatecas, Colima, and Morelos will be the new states and the states of Sonora and Chihuahua will double their current capacity. The new pipeline serving Mazatlán will run from Puerto Libertad in Sonora through Guaymus and Topolobambo and end in Mazatlán.
It is anticipated that initially the natural gas will be used primarily by the industrial sector. The project will be completed in 2018.
