Businessmen and municipal and State authorities planning to rescue the Golden Zone have put forward an agenda to “harmonize” the formerly popular tourist area.
The culture of obeying laws is high on the agenda with specific attention to respecting traffic signals and painted yellow “no parking” lines. The committee also wants to ensure businesses on Golden Zone streets and inhabitants respect noise laws to keep the volume of music within the permitted decibel level.
One of the immediate actions the committee will take is to supervise the Golden Zone remodeling process presently taking place which includes new sidewalks, handicap ramps, pedestrian crossings and LED street lamps with subterranean cabling to reduce visual contamination.
The 15 million peso upgrade is being funded by federal funds through the Sinaloa Secretary of Tourism.
Councilman Roberto Osuna Valdez said businessmen in the zone would like there to be a rapprochement with local governments to deal with problems arising and that the committee will meet two or three times a month.
Oficial Mayor, Salvador Reynosa Garzón, said in 2015 businesses on the beach will be regulated and made “uniform” as part of a strategy to improve the Golden Zone image.
He stated they are analyzing a series of evaluations concerning beach vendors and for the next month they are going to review the census to ascertain who is who and what they do, who has permits and who is using them so as to avoid permits being used by a third person.
As well, said the Official Mayor, they will involve the health department to verify the quality of food sold in the zone and Civil Protection to review security in the area.

Renovation of the saltwater pool includes an ocean view platform for tourists and locals.
Renovation of the saltwater pool includes an ocean view platform for tourists and locals.
At a press conference yesterday, the Centro Historico Project Association presented architectural plans to renovate the Plazuela Machado and the salt water pool Carpa Olivera in Olas Altas.
Architects responsible for the remodeling, Erik Pérez and Javier Hidalgo, pointed out that in previous municipal administrations updates had been sporadic and isolated without a (comprehensive) strategy. With global modern urban development strategies, renovations can no longer be planned by zone when considering embellishing or beautifying public spaces, the architects said.
The Plazuela Machado revitalization project will begin within the next few days. The first stage consists of redesigning parks and benches in the public square, repositioning and illuminating the garden, installing an irrigation system and installing underground electric cables for cultural events.
With respect to the public saltwater pool, la Carpa Olivera, the project involves a modern design to use the adjacent sea water and the construction of a viewing platform, a fountain, installation of palm trees, good quality bathrooms, showers and a water slide utilizing salt water.
The architects explained the idea is to give a concession to an individual or business that will offer drinks and snacks at the pool. The owner will be in charge of safeguarding and maintaining the pool in exchange for the concession.
