Following complaints by citizens, businesses and public transport drivers of the pilot project route change in the Zona Dorada held last weekend, Mayor Carlos Felton announced yesterday a modification of the traffic pattern change.
Beginning Wednesday, April 16 at 5am and concluding Sunday, April 20 at 5am, the four lanes of Av. Camarón Sábalo from Valentino´s north to Petroplaza (Rico´s Café glorieta) will be northbound only. All other roads and avenues will remain unchanged.
The Mayor told reporters he had spoken to the El Cid Homeowners Association which has agreed to open the major thoroughfare through the gated community, Circuito Julio Berdegué Aznar, to public traffic during the four days. The Circuito begins at the El Cid entrance on Av. Camarón Sábalo and exits at Avenida La Marina southbound.
As well, said Mayor Felton, the municipality has negotiated to open the gate of Av. Tiburón in Sabalo Country to allow traffic to enter El Cid, where drivers can turn left to go north or right to pass through the gated community to the La Marina exit.
The plan also includes opening the avenue that passes through the Marina golf course to relieve traffic congestion on Av. Sábalo Cerritos.
Given the decision to locate the “bandódromo” music festival in Olas Altas, that street will be closed to traffic from 8pm to 4am for the four days, Wednesday through Sunday morning.
