Germán Escobar Manjarrez, President of the Agrarian Communities of Sinaloa, said that during this growing season Sinaloa has planted 50,000 hectares (123,500 acres) of produce. The planting season runs from September through June, depending upon the crop in question.

He noted Sinaloa’s produce industry generates over 300,000 jobs for the state.

Germán Escobar said that this season’s crops are doing very well with increased prices caused by the harsh winter the United States is experiencing. He noted that tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers have particularly benefited.

The demand for Sinaloa’s tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers has increased the size of production from the state. Germán Escobar added that of all of Sinaloa’s produce, its tomatoes are currently in the highest demand.
