According to a communiqué issued by the Monterrey company Fitch Ratings, Mazatlán’s credit rating is “high” based on the municipality’s stable finances.

The September 30, 2013 report said income available to the municipality registered an 11.3 percent increase, helped in part by the augmentation of collection of monies owed the city.

The main factors sustaining the credit qualification include improved income overall, sustainable public debt with good terms and conditions and the municipality´s sustainable economy in terms of tourism.
