The National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) released its
report “Quarterly Indicator of State Economic Activity (ITAEE)” for the third
quarter of 2014. The state of Sinaloa recorded the second largest gain in the
country with a 7.8 percent increase in economic activity for the July to
September 2014 period.
The state of Aguascalientes had the greatest growth rate with 11.1 percent. The states of Guerrero (7.0 percent), Tamaulipas (6.9 percent) and Nayarit (6.5 percent) rounded out the top five.
States that saw a negative growth rate for the third quarter of last year were Campeche (-6.8 percent), Baja California Sur (-3.3 percent), Baja California (-1.6 percent), Sonora (-0.6 percent) and Federal District (-0.1 percent).
The ITAEE revealed that economic activity for México, as a whole, was up 2.2 percent for the period.
