New Guidelines for Visas for Foreigners

National Migration Institute (INM) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) met with 49 consuls located in Latin America and Europe to inform them about the new requirements for obtaining Mexican visas.
Under the new guidelines an applicant for a visa must show a monthly income through a job or pension equivalent to 100 days of minimum wage or investments or bank accounts with an average balance of 300 days of minimum wage during the preceding three months.
Students applying for a Student Temporary Resident Visa must show that they have employment, a pension or a scholarship equal to a minimum of 100 days’ minimum wages.
Foreigners over 65 and those who are coming to México through a letter of invitation from a public or private institution do not need to verify their income for a visa.
