President Peña Nieto announced that for the first time in the history of México the country has surpassed the figure of 17 million formal jobs registered with the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS). He attributed the new record to the structural reforms passed during his term in office.
The president also noted that according to data published by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), industrial activity increased 2.1 percent in real terms in July of this year compared to the same month in 2013.
He also pointed out that the construction industry grew 3.5 percent in July compared to July of 2013 and according to data from the Mexican Social Security Institute, formal employment grew at an annual rate 3.7 percent during the month of August 2014.
