Upgraded to a category four hurricane early this morning, Odile continues to threaten the southern Sinaloa coast with possible wind, rain and thunderstorms this weekend.
As a precaution, the national civil protection system upgraded its alert from blue to green for coastal areas in south Sinaloa including Mazatlán. The remainder of the state remains under a blue alert.
Odile carries a 150 kilometer wide thick cloud base and it is predicted to bring 50 to 75 millimeters of heavy rain to Nayarit and Sinaloa.
