Mandatory Automobile Liability Insurance Mandated Today

Tonatiuh Gutiérrez Ramírez, director of GNP Seguros Car Insurance, reminded Mexicans that beginning on Tuesday the Compulsory Liability Insurance for Road goes into effect, which requires all motor vehicle owners to have insurance which covers damage to people or property owned by third parties caused by a car accident on the road.
He pointed out that it is the responsibility of the vehicle owner to obtain the insurance coverage and compliance will be undertaken by the Ministry of Public Security (SSPF) by the Federal Police.
Gutiérrez Ramírez added that people who currently have automobile insurance from any company should contact their insurance company to confirm that their insurance coverage includes the liability protection required by law and that the coverage is a minimum of 100,000 pesos.
