Airlift from Los Cabos Grows

The airlift of tourists stranded in Baja California Sur continued yesterday from the Los Cabos airport to Mazatlán’s Rafael Buelna airport. At least seven airplanes from the Mexican Air Force and Navy loaded with evacuees arrived in Mazatlán.
292 people looking for a way home made their way to Mazatlán through the help of the Mexican Air Force and Navy. Together with the evacuees that arrived on Tuesday, the total so far is 462 domestic and foreign tourists airlifted out of Los Cabos to Mazatlán.
Yesterday the airlift rescued 108 Mexicans, 169 Americans, and 15 Canadians stranded in Baja California Sur because of Hurricane Odile.
Francisco Cordova Celaya, Secretary of Tourism for the state, said many of the rescued Mexicans continued their journey to México City through either direct flights or via Culiacán. Other Mexicans left the city by bus to various Mexican destinations, including Hermosillo, Culiacán, Guasave, Los Mochis, Torreon, Monterrey, and Guadalajara.
Alaska airlines added flights out of Mazatlán and carried rescued Americans and Canadians to San Diego for connecting flights to their final destinations.
