Culiacán Hospital to Begin Skin and Bone Marrow Transplants

Culiacán General Hospital, “Bernardo J. Gastelum,” ranks number three nationwide in organ transplants with ten liver transplants and five heart transplants in 2013. The hospital will now shortly begin a highly specialized program for burned skin and bone marrow for patients with malignancies or cancers of lymphoma.
The National Transplant Center located at the hospital is part of the certified and highly specialized network performing complex procedures. This new addition will save patients from having to go to México City to obtain these two new procedures.
Aispuro Echeverria, Sinaloa Secretary of Health, said that the state will continue working so as to position Sinaloa in first place as a national leader in organ transplants, as a benefit extending to people without social security.
