Since the beginning of the new year, tourism in Mazatlán has increased 11.56 percent over the same time period during 2013 reported Datatur, the statistical arm of the Federal Secretary of Tourism.

In the past six weeks, 187,154 tourists visited the port as compared to 167,792 last year. Of those, 117,153 were national tourists and 70,001 were foreigners.

The influx of national tourists is a result of the opening of the Mazatlán-Durango highway, bringing visitors from Coahuilla to Durango to visit the city.
