The Mexican Automotive Industry Association (AMIA)
announced that a total of 2.77 million units, including automobiles,
pick-ups and light trucks, were produced during the January-November
2012 period; a 2.4% increase over the same period in 2012.
Additionally, 2.26 million vehicles were exported during
the first 11 months of 2012, a 2.8% increase over prior year.
Furthermore, November exports were 2.3% higher than in November 2012. Of
the 2.26 exports, 1.53 million were shipped to the United States,
representing 67.8% of all exports.
The AMIA said México’s vehicle exports to Asia jumped 49.2%, while exports to Canada increase 19.7%.
Domestic vehicle sales totaled 943,999 units during the
first 11 months of the year, up 7.7% compared to the same period in
2012.
