Mexico, Turkey to sign security deal

Mexico and Turkey are both getting ready to sign 12 agreements on organized crime and national security.

The agreements are due to be signed today in Ankara, Turkey’s capital, as part of a Cooperative Strategy and Association Framework between the two nations.

Mexican Attorney General Jesús Murillo Karam and Turkish Economy Minister Zafer Caglayan will sign accords covering areas such as organized crime, terrorism and drug-trafficking.

Mexican Foreign Relations Secretary José Antonio Meade will also sign agreements with Turkish Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek on the double imposition of taxes and the prevention of tax evasion on Rent Tax.
Meade will also sign deals with Turkish Commerce Minister Hayati Yazici on mutual administrative assistance and the exchange of information on trade matters, air services for Turkish officials, as well as one on export credit cooperation with Turkish Eximbank Director Hayrettin Kaplan. There will also be an agreement of understanding signed between ProMéxico and the Turkish Agency for Investment Promotion, in order to collaborate on science and technology.

On this unprecedented official visit of a Mexican president to Turkey, President Enrique Peña Nieto will also meet with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, then will leave a flower arrangement at the grave of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, founder of the modern Turkish state.
