Maztatlán’s Instituto Municipal de la Juventud (institute of youth or Imju)
under the Responsible Scholarship Program (Probere), provided 700 students of
Fraccionamiento Las Mañanitas with a monthly stipend to assist with school
expenses yesterday.
Of the 700, 350 went to secondary school students and 350 to those attending high school. The younger students each received 300 pesos monthly and those in high school 400 pesos each month.
The municipality has already spent two million of the 5,600,000 pesos budgeted for the scholarships, said Imju director Reynaldo González Meza.
The Probere scholarships are for students with minimal financial resources and have been given out mainly to students in El Quelite, El Habal, Siqueros, El Roble, La Noria and colonias in Mazatlán among others.
