At the municipal council meeting yesterday, members unanimously approved
awarding a good citizen commemorative medal called “Jornadas Heroicas” next
month.
The idea was presented to council by the Comisión de Acción Social y Cultural to recognize a Mazatlecan for his or her work in culture, education, health, philanthropy or the environment or in recognition of an heroic act that has positively impacted society.
Names for the award must be submitted by March 13. The winner will be announced March 19 with a presentation ceremony to follow on March 31.
