Twelfth and Final Increase in Price of Gasoline

The Mexican Association of Gasolineros (Amegas) reported that starting today the price of Magna gasoline increased nine centavos making the new price 13.31 pesos per liter ($3.83/gal.) and that Premium gasoline and diesel are now 14.11 pesos per liter ($4.06) and 13.94 per liter ($4.01), respectively, representing an increase of 11 centavos per liter.
Last month, the price of gasoline Magna stood at 13.22 pesos per liter ($3.85/gal.), while the cost of the premium was 14.00 pesos per liter ($4.08/gal.) and diesel was 13.83 pesos per liter ($4.03/gal.).
With the changes in the country’s energy reform, this will be the last year in which the price of gasoline and diesel increase each month. Under the energy reform between the years 2015 and 2019 the price will only be adjusted for inflation.
The Secretary of Finance and Public Credit, Luis Videgaray, the Secretary of Finance and Public Credit said, “Starting next year there will be no monthly increases, the price of gasoline and diesel will be adjusted in the month of January by inflation for the prior year.”
According to the Bank of México, the estimated inflation for 2014 will be about four percent and is expected to fall slightly in 2015.
