2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Convertible In Velocity Yellow Tricoat

General Motors has announced that the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 will go on sale in Mexico via a network of “Chevrolet Performance Stores”, where it will be sold alongside the Camaro ZL1 as well as the “base” Corvette C7 Stingray. The announcement should please enthusiasts south of the border that aim to push the car to its limits on some of the country’s famed desert roads.

The 2015 Z06 will arrive in Mexico in the same guise as the model sold in the United States, which means the 6.2-liter supercharged V8 LT4 will still be capable of producing 650 horsepower and an equally-balanced 650 pound-feet of torque. Curiously, GM’s news release leaves out the optional eight-speed automatic transmission, which could indicate that the seven-speed manual gearbox will be the only transmission available. However, we suspect that the omission is likely due to an oversight rather than a formal exclusion on Chevy’s part, and strongly believe that the eight speed will be available across the border alongside its manual sibling.

Chevrolet claims that the new Z06 will arrive in Mexico sometime in 2015, with official launch and distribution dates to be revealed sometime later. Pricing has also not been announced, but considering that the Z06 has a base price of $78,995 USD in the United States, look for Z06 to start around 1,100,498.18 Pesos, when current exchange rates are applied. That’s a lofty sum, especially for a country whose growing middle class is balanced out by an equally-resurgent rate of poverty, putting the Z06 out of reach for many buyers. Still, the lucky few that can afford to park one of these beasts in their garage will be rewarded with a supercar that can run circles around Europe’s best, while also moonlighting as a stylish method of exploring the country’s swath of beautiful scenery.
¿Esta bien?
