Chinese authorities have granted recognition and protection to the appellation of origin of tequila which would protect Mexico's best known tipple in the massive Chinese market, the Mexican Secretariat of Economy has announced.
Recognition also strengthens the institutional framework under which the cactus-derived spirit is exported to the Chinese market, the secretariat said Wednesday.
