México Moves to Second Place in Auto Exports to U.S.

The Mexican Association of the Automotive Industry (AMIA) said that during the first nine months of 2014 México moved ahead of Japan for the first time and became the second largest exporter of new cars to the United States.
Eduardo Solís Sánchez, head of the AMIA reported that México exported to the U.S. a total of 1,384,590 units during the nine month period of January-September, while Japan exported1,282,010 cars in the same period.
During this time period México’s sales to the United States increase 15.4 percent over the same period in 2013.
Canada is the largest exporter of automobiles to the United States.
