Facelift for Malecón Begins

Julio Guerra Echegaray, Director of Public Services in Mazatlán, said that work to improve the appearance of the Malecón has begun with heavy equipment removing the concrete benches and planters that line the Malecón.
The Director of Public Services said a total of 700 pieces will be removed, some for maintenance and others for replacement. The area of the Malecón that will see the greatest change is from Insurgentes Avenue south to the Fishermen’s Monument.
The work on the Malecón will include the repair of all existing lighting and installing new decorative lighting. Guerra Echegaray said the city crews have installed lights in palm trees to accent them. The lighting phase should be completed shortly, he said.
