Overnight 30 new concrete benches were installed on the Malecón. Salvador Reynosa Garzón, the official mayor, said the new benches are owned by the city and were originally destined for El Roble, but the design and style were not accepted by the townspeople.
The people of El Roble, many of whom are older, found the concrete benches too hard and with no back support. The municipality will substitute a traditional style bench for those intended for the town, Reynosa Garzón said.
Reynosa Garzón noted that the Public Works Department has been asking for additional benches for the Malecón for bus stops and to replace many of those originally installed in 2002.
