After stressing that his government is honoring and reaffirming its promise of moving Mexico to the best conditions possible, President Enrique Peña Nieto assured that the future of the country will be greater for all Mexicans in the next few years; that the outlined objectives will cease to be ideas and instead, made into realities.
He also maintained that his responsibility of moving Mexico is not only to “move it financially,” but to propel it forward in everything the country is capable of if it is able to move past its differences.
Peña Nieto emphasized that to jump start investments and generate jobs, the structural changes necessary have already begun in the financial sector, telecommunications, economic competition and energy, creating an excellent platform allowing Mexico to grow quickly.
From the city of Coatepec in the state of Veracruz, the president inaugurated a free highway that will benefit more that 650,000 citizens of Veracruz and one that required 324 million pesos ($25 million). While at the inauguration ceremony, Peña Nieto took the opportunity to recognize the efforts that made the structural reforms possible.
“Wide recognition to all that have made what is happening here possible — to the distinct political efforts that have reached beyond innate differences have shown political maturity and civility. And have allowed us to finalize agreements making these structural changes possible, “ he proclaimed.
Currently, Mexican highways carry around 280 million tons per year. Peña Nieto is looking to increase that number to 500 million tons per year.
