MEXICO CITY – It is very likely that next week the federal government will enact the energy reform, said President Enrique Peña Nieto at the end of the flag ceremony, at Los Pinos on Wednesday, in honor of the Mexico delegation that will participate in the Youth Olympic Games 2014 in Nanjing, China.
“Once the discussion and approval process of all the regulatory law matters is concluded, it is very likely to pass next week,” said Peña Nieto in a brief interview with the media.
The full Senate approved in majority the energy reform legislation which includes reforms to the laws of budget, fiscal responsibility and debt.
The Senate endorsed, in general, the laws submitted by deputies that include the modifications to the dictates of the hydrocarbon law, electrical industry, Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) and the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE).
With this, the six laws that will regulate the constitutional energy reform, submitted by the president last April, will be complete.
At the flag ceremony for the Mexican Delegation to participate in the Youth Olympic Games 2014, Peña Nieto told the national team that they represent a new Mexico that is determined to be a protagonist in the 21st century.
“A modern Mexico, a more competitive and successful nation. A Mexico that is on the rise and working to be better. Our goal is to become the leading nation of this century,” said Peña Nieto.
“Mexico is a country of young people with talent to compete and succeed in the word. This sport federation is an example and proof of the great potential of this country.”
He added that with the effort of every Mexican, the country can become a success story.
The president noted that athletes work together to succeed in their sport in the same way that the federal government works together to reestablish the national sport.
In this regard, he thanked the vision and leadership of the national sports federation.
“In its first 20 months in office it has organized a fairer international sports federation in Mexico,” said Peña Nieto.
“The athletes with scholarships from the High Performance Sports Fund receive an additional amount to their monthly payment to enable them to save for retirement at the end of their career,” he said.
