The municipal government will invest three million pesos to install an emergency electric generator.
In order to avoid the constant disruptions in water supply from the Los Horcones water plant each time it rains, the municipal government will invest three million pesos to install an emergency electric generator.
With this, said Mayor Carlos Felton, electricity cutoffs occasioned by storms will not affect the flow of water from the plant located on the road to the Mazatlán Rafael Buelna airport.
Speaking to reporters, the Mayor said it is urgent to resolve this problem and invest three million pesos because each time there is an electrical storm and electricity is lost the Los Horcones plant, which pumps 70 percent of water to the municipality, ceases to function.
He commented that in the last few months hotels have reported high room occupancy rates and that is why it is necessary to guaranty a reliable supply of water. Fortunately, he added, the city has enough water to meet demand, but the government has to make some decisions.
The city was not constructed with rain drainage pipes, especially in the older El Centro area, but new fraccionamientos do have rain runoffs, he pointed out. At the present the municipality is looking for alternative solutions to the rain drainage problem and one is to install a pump in the Laguna del Camarón. He asked nearby residents for patience in dealing with the fetid odours generated by the project.
Another public work that will begin shortly is installing a pump on Av. Óscar Pérez Escobosa at the corner of México 15 highway that will handle flooding around the new Plaza Sendero presently being constructed. (from Noroeste)
