Canadian Tourism up Almost 6%

The Tourism Office of México in Canada reported that in the first half of this year 1.5 million Canadians traveled to México, an increase of 5.9 percent over the same period last year.
Rodrigo Esposito, Director of the Tourism Office of México in Canada, told the Mexican news agencyNotimex, “The growth of Canadian tourism to México is not due to a single factor.” He added that México’s tourism product is “superior” and the Canadian tourists recognize it as being “superior to other destinations.”
The Director of Tourism noted that México has sponsored more than 100 tourism trade shows in Canada this year, which has helped the tourism business.
At a promotional event in the state of Michoacán, the Minister of Tourism for the state, Roberto García Monroy, said, “We know that Canadians are very fond of new experiences and Michoacán offers a wide range of activities. During the long winter, Canadians can learn the great cultural, gastronomic and archaeological wealth of both México and Michoacán.”
