Conagua warns rain will continue

The National Water Commission (Conagua) said intense rainfall will continue to prevail in much of the country during the weekend and urged citizens to take precautions and heed the advice of civil protection agencies.
Conagua explained that storm “Elida” has a remnant low pressure. The institution said the storm was located off the coast of Michoacán and Colima.
Conagua reported the cloud bands of its remnants were impacting the states in the west, center and south of the country, increasing the potential for heavy rainfall in the regions of Jalisco, Michoacán and Puebla.
Also, very heavy rainfall was forecasted for the State of Mexico, Mexico City, Sinaloa, Nayarit, Colima, Guerrero, Guanajuato, Tlaxcala, Hidalgo as well as in Querétaro and Morelos.
Strong winds and high waves were expected from the coasts of Nayarit to Guerrero.
Meanwhile, tropical storm “Douglas” was located off the coast of Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur.
However, the agency warned that cloud formations presented the risk of heavy rains, high winds and landslides in Baja California Sur.
Conagua informed a low-pressure trough affecting the north, northeast and east of the country, was expected to interact with the entry of moisture from the Pacific Ocean. It will cause very heavy rainfall with thunderstorms in Zacatecas and San Luis Potosi, strong rains in Chihuahua, Durango and Tamaulipas, Sonora and Nuevo León.
