Airlines Add Flights to Mazatlán for Summer

Carlos Berdegué Sacristán, vice president of the Association of Hotels and Tourism Companies, said that because of the demand for this upcoming summer season, airlines have been increasing the number of domestic passenger seats available to Mazatlán.
He said that airlines are putting on more flights to Mazatlán together with more passenger seats. So far, passenger capacity is expected to be up 40 percent this summer when compared to last year.
Carlos Berdegué also noted that the association has been carrying out regional campaigns in Sinaloa, Sonora, Durango, Coahuila and Chihuahua to promote driving to Mazatlán. He added that the promotions have been well received.
He noted that the opening of the Mazatlán-Durango highway has increased interest in driving to Mazatlán, with tour companies putting together charter bus tours.
Carlos Berdegué said that with the increased number of tourists expected this summer employment by the city’s hotels should be up 20 percent over that seen last summer.
