The Telly Awards has named Savvy Omnimedia, the production company behind the “Savvy Stews” travel segments that currently air nationally on the morning show “The Daily Buzz,” as a Bronze winner in the 35th Annual Telly Awards for their piece titled “The Savvy Stews in Mazatlan,” in the TV Programs or Segments - Travel/Tourism category. With nearly 12,000 entries from all 50 states and numerous countries, this is truly an honor.
The winning segment was shot on location in Mazatlan, Mexico last June and featured hosts Bobby Laurie and Gailen David exploring the city, tasting local cuisine, touring a tequila factory and zip lining through the jungle. “The segment was a pleasure to produce from the people involved locally in Mazatlan to the tourism board’s PR firm in New York,” said segment producer Patti Broughton. “It’s an amazing honor for us at Savvy Omnimedia, Trivago and everyone involved with the shoot in Mazatlan.”
“Savvy Stews” co-host and co-executive producer Gailen David stated: “It's the people, brands and destinations we work with that make it possible for our team to accept this honor.”
The team being recognized for the award winning piece includes:
Gailen David - Host / Executive Producer
Bobby Laurie - Host / Executive Producer
Patricia Broughton - Senior Producer
April Carter - Director of Photography & Editor
The Telly Awards was founded in 1979 and is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest video and film productions, and online commercials, video and films. Winners represent the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world.
A prestigious judging panel of over 500 accomplished industry professionals, judged the competition, upholding the historical standard of excellence that Telly represents. The Silver Council evaluated entries to recognize distinction in creative work – entries do not compete against each other – rather entries are judged against a high standard of merit.
“The Telly Awards has a mission to honor the very best in film and video,” said Linda Day, Executive Director of the Telly Awards. “Savvy Omnimedia’s accomplishment illustrates their creativity, skill, and dedication to their craft and serves as a testament to great film and video production.”
The Savvy Omnimedia production crew is constantly on the road filming in multiple destinations each month showcasing the best attractions, hotels, restaurants and unique events each location has to offer.
Bobby Laurie added, “Gailen and myself have been producing televised travel segments for the past three years and last year, decided to take the segments out of the studio and bring them on location to feature destinations around the world. This award is a testament to the team we have in place that made the transition so easy and makes each segment entertaining and informative.”
