Income from International Tourists up 15%

According to figures from the Bank of México (Banxico), gross receipts from international visitors in México reached $4.4 billion during the first quarter of the year, which is an increase of 14.8 percent over the first three months of 2013.
A Banxico spokesperson noted that in the year 2013 México recorded $13.8 billion from international tourists, which was the best year in its tourism history.
For the month of March, 2014 Banxico said income from foreign visitors exceeded $1.6 billion dollars, which is an increase of 14.2 percent over March of 2013.
Income from international tourists arriving by air had the largest growth with 18.5 percent over March of 2013, reaching $1.3 billion dollars, which was 82 percent of the total income generated by international tourism.
Banxico said that the average spending per tourist arriving by air grew 10.7 percent in March, totalling $969.
