A giant neon screen was recently installed at the corner of the Malecón and Insurgentes.
In a regular council session yesterday, PRI Councillor Guillermo Quintana Pucheta asked Mayor Carolos Felton to begin an administrative process against the Display company for violating Article 85 of the city´s construction regulations which prohibit installing signs in certain areas, including Av. Del Mar and Insurgentes.
A giant neon screen was recently installed at the corner of the Malecón and Insurgentes by the company located on the same corner.
Quintana Pucheta pointed out that Article 91 of the regulations limits the size of signs and screens to 27 square meters. Permission was given to the company to install a 34 square meter sign, but which in reality measures 50 square meters.
He reminded council that in November, 2013 a number of 30-year-old palm trees were removed at that corner to install the screen, property of Carmen Osuna, former president of Canacintra, and that a license was issued on December 27, 2013 in the final days of the former administration of Alejandro Higuera.
Mayor Felton commented that he was aware of the problem since taking office and would visit the site today, adding they are working on it.
