40 Receive Free Cleft Palate Operations

Forty people from Concordia, El Rosario, Escuinapa and Mazatlán who were born with a cleft lip and palate will receive free surgery to correct the defect, thanks to DIF Mazatlán in coordination with the Lions Club, the Faculty of Medicine of the Autonomous University in Mexico and Dr. Rodolfo Trejo Amado.
Over 100 people were examined for the surgery, but only 40 were selected including children from the age of two months to senior citizens.
Seven surgeons, a doctor from Guerrero, three anesthesiologists and a nurse have volunteered to take part in the free surgeries to be performed over three days at the Hospital Margarita Maza de Juárez. This is the 18th year the surgeries have been offered by medical and non-profit organizations.
