At end of 2013 the unemployment rate for México averaged 4.9 percent,
the third lowest among the member countries of the Organization for
Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), tied with Austria and
behind only Korea and Japan.
México’s unemployment rate averaged 5.3 percent in 2010, 5.2 percent in 2011, and 5.0 percent in 2012.
The average unemployment rate for all OECD member companies was 7.9 percent in 2013 and 8.0 percent in 2011 and 2012.
The countries with the highest unemployment rates last year were Spain with 26.4 percent, Portugal with 16.5 percent, Slovakia with 14.2 percent, Ireland with 13.1 percent, Italy with 12.2 percent, and France with 10.8 percent.
Korea had the lowest unemployment rate in 2013 with a rate of 3.1 percent. It was followed by Japan at 4.0 percent, and Austria and México, each with an unemployment rate of 4.9%,
